Responsibilities and Expectations:
Collaborate with other Application Engineers to assist with the construction of written Security Engineering department standards for project coordination, engineered CAD drawings, design methods, materials, communications and documentation.
Adopt and adhere to the above Engineering standards on all tasks. Insure that as standards are changed or improved, every effort is made to learn the new method while providing written feedback to your current supervisor
Assist, upon request, in research and development of new technologies and products, and provides, in writing, any recommendations for improvement to VP of Engineering.
Participate, as requested, in proposal acceptance reviews, offering acceptance or recommendations for improvement on the Application engineering scope of work and labor hours estimated on the proposed project.
Participate, as requested, as needed in turnover meeting with Project Manager, Account Executive, Software Engineer and Operations Manager, offering acceptance or recommendations for improvement on the Application engineering labor hours estimated on the project being turned over.
Coordinate the project time schedule with the Project Manager, and continue to communicate the status of the schedule and task completion with the Project Manager on a regular basis.
Review the list of materials proposed on each project, insuring the accuracy of parts listed and correct application of each item. If a problem or improvement is identified, make corrections or substitutions to the design, while remaining inside the scope and budget, and communicate the changes to the Project Manager in writing.
Complete the initial design review and generate the list of materials. Forward this list, in writing, to the Project Manager in order to place the equipment orders for the project.
Prepare a written sequence of operations, points list and CAD drawings for each project, keeping in balance the cost and performance aspects as each relates to the defined scope of the project. Forward this list to all team members.
Visit job site as required for initial review, checkout, commissioning and Application engineering signoff. Attends regularly scheduled project meetings as requested and scheduled by the project manager.
Prepare all applicable submittals per project specifications among the following: control drawings (i.e. points list, control panel wiring , system schematic, device location detail, typicals, material list, sequence of operation, drawing index), manufacturer's equipment cut sheets and any other specified or defined standards.
Work with the Project Manager to prepare and present all technical requests for information (RFI) during the construction project. All RFI's will be dated and submitted to the Project Manager in writing.
Work with members of the project team and associated contractor personnel to insure the success of the installation and system commissioning process.
Perform site inspections, if required or requested, for final engineering sign off and system commissioning, or as otherwise necessary.
Four year degree required in electrical or mechanical engineering.
Complete understanding of closed circuit television systems
Complete understanding of access control and monitoring systems
Some knowledge of Windows based structured programming, including Visual Basic, Visual C++, .Web, etc
Expertise in using Microsoft Office products
Thorough working knowledge AutoCad
Process engineering experience will provide a large advantage for this position.
Some type of previous electrical engineering/mechanical engineering is required.
Must have a thorough understanding of low voltage electronics
Must have a good understanding of serial communication protocols
